Little Ugly & Midnight Snack

Little Ugly is a band born of hard work and dedication to their craft. Since their inception in 2008, they have ascended the ranks to become one of Connecticut’s most recognizable and lauded bands. Their most recent release, Where the River’s Born, which was made possible by an appreciative fan base who funded the band’s Kickstarter, has been praised as having run the “gamut of what “Americana” could possibly be and yet remains something so unique.”

Their songs come from personal spaces, emotional landscapes that are incongruently shared by all: love, hope, fear, alienation; mountains, sidewalks, trails, trains; edges, crooked lines, falling, and flying. The resulting unique Little Ugly sound has been described as “Indie rock, folk, even tiny bits of country, blues and plain old rock n’ roll.”

Seeing Little Ugly live will transcend the experience of hearing Little Ugly. You’ll be mesmerized by the foot-stomping energy, their bodies moving in a rhythmic trance, claimed by the spirits found in each song.

Midnight Snack is the musical brainchild of brothers John and Mike Johnson. They started the project in 2009 in rural Harwinton, Connecticut, and the next year moved to Boston, MA to study at Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, the Johnson brothers started playing their songs with several of their closest friends, and these friends very quickly transformed into what is now the Midnight Snack family.

The band now consists of John Johnson on vocals and keyboards, Michael Johnson on guitar and synths, Peter Brownlee on bass, Zack Kardon on guitar, Zoe Gelinas on vocals and glockenspiel, Katie Richter on vocals and trumpet, and Jacob Burnstein on drums. Their sound is a blend of old-school psychedelic rock and funk with new-school art rock. Their goal is to spread love and positivity with addictive recordings and powerful live performances.

Greg Piccolo

Perhaps best remembered for his 24-year stint with Rhode Island's internationally renowned jump blues band Roomful of Blues, Greg Piccolo has followed his muse since his teenage years.

He joined his first band, The Rejects, at age 13, singing and playing a little alto sax. It was while with this band, playing a date at the Westerly, Rhode Island YMCA, that he met Duke Robillard. It was one of the defining moments in his life. He joined Duke in The Variations, and Duke introduced him to the work of such musicians as Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters. Greg was already familiar with their songs from the covers recorded by the likes of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and the Animals, but until Duke played Greg the originals, he was unaware of the wellspring of the blues. Greg started to drink from the source.

Duke had heard Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson that summer at the Ann Arbor Blues festival, and had decided a horn band was the way to go. Rich Lataille (alto and tenor) joined Roomful the same time as Greg, and baritone player Doug James came on board the following year. The now legendary Roomful of Blues horn section was born.

It is from this period that one can say that Roomful's career really took off in an international sense, and Greg's singing – soulful, declamatory and passionate – coupled with a jaunty and energetic stage demeanor, won him fans all over the world. And of course, there was that battered old Selmer Mark VI, hanging from his neck, a tornado in the offing, an ever-present threat of mad abandon. His hard and driving take-no-prisoners sound on up tempo numbers caused pandemonium on the dance floor, while he could make the bouncers weep on a slow blues. Producer, critic and DJ ("Portraits in Blue") Bob Porter, who produced two of Roomful's Grammy nominated albums, noted "Pic has started a new tradition on tenor sax."

Lee-Ann Lovelace & G Tree

Lee-Ann Lovelace has been a professional singer and songwriter since late 2004. As soon as she joined her first band, she hit the ground running and has become known as one of the busiest and most in-demand singers/collaborators in Connecticut.

Though you can feel the soul and power of her voice on recordings of a wide variety of genres, there is nothing like experiencing the energy and soul she gives when you are in the same room. She has performed throughout New England and on local CT radio with a multitude of bands and musicians, and she has extensive studio experience.

Aside from her band experience, Lee-Ann regularly performs with a variety of hard-hitting local musicians like George Lesiw, Adrian Tramontano, David Stoltz, Kris Jensen, Greg Sherrod, Nicholas Biello, Aidan Nolan, Billy Bileca, Nick Longo, and Paul Gabriel. Lee-Ann has collaborated with the late, legendary producer Paul Leka, and she has opened for Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Orleans, Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famer Ronnie Spector, and most recently, Christine Ohlman "The Beehive Queen."

For Oct 3rd Lee Ann is joined by George Lesiw on guitar, Mike Palin on bass of the Other Orchestra and George Mastrogiannis on drums.

Mike Law & the Playboys

Mike Law & the Playboys founding members Mike Law and Carl Ricci started the band in 2002.  Begun as merely a side project for both, after their first show they realized they had something special.  Fast forward to now and Mike is well known in the northeastern blues scene, paying his dues and laying down the ‘Law’ with his unique brand of Deep Blues.

Finding American roots rock, rhythm and blues for the first time, Mike was won over.  The soul, the passion and the strength of the music had made him realize what his true love in life was.  His musical influences include the likes of Johnny Guitar Watson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Rogers, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, Wynonie Harris, T Bone Walker, Gene Vincent and the Blasters.

With the stamp of approval from many local and national acts, Mike Law & the Playboys have not only entertained crowds throughout New England but have also gained the respect of their peers in the music industry.

One eyed Johnny & the Gravediggers, straight up Blues for working stiffs...The band was formed on a Wednesday after jamming together at an open mic.... It just seemed like a good idea at the time... Their first gig was the following Saturday at a local restaurant... Little did they know they were creating a monster, a big, hungry Blues monster with an appetite for rocking, rollicking, roadhouse boogie...
