Victor Wainwright

Though his career began over a decade ago with genuine rock n' roll honky-tonk, Wainwright has broadened his artistic scope over the years to include music representing virtually every corner of the blues. His insatiable interest in music discovery, sheer love for entertaining and curiosity have led him all around the world, and the resulting perspective is a reflection of his passion for entertaining and creating progressive roots music in an effort to move the artform forward. Composer, producer, vocalist, entertainer and award winning piano player; Victor Wainwright is a raucous high-octane, dynamic performer and crowd pleasure with soul to spare.

"Victor Wainwright, winner of this year’s and last year's Pine Top Perkins Piano Player Award at the BMA’s, is a force to be reckoned with on a piano. He IS honky-tonk and boogie, with a dose of rolling thunder. Wainwright’s playing is simply beautiful madness." -American Blues Scene 2013

"Savannah, GA native Victor Wainwright is all about boogie woogie piano, deep soul, and a voice that recalls Dr. John at his best. He is a rising blues star, a tremendous player." -Chicago Blues Guide 2013

Tommy Malone

Tommy Malone is not only one of the greatest songwriters of his generation, he’s a superb guitarist and a magnificent vocalist who animates every corner of his compositions.

Malone, like so many legendary Louisiana musicians, grew up in a family of players who exposed him to every type of American roots music as well as the innovations of British rockers who turned classic R&B, blues and country music into gold. Over the past 40 years Malone has been at the center of some of the most storied and often star-crossed bands in Louisiana history, beginning with the family band formed with two of his brothers, Dustwoofie. Malone fronted the Cartoons opposite the infamously great R&B blues vocalist Becky Kury. He then backed another notorious New Orleans soul diva, Leigh “L’il Queenie” Harris. Malone went on to help develop the eccentric songwriters’ collective the Continental Drifters before becoming a charter member of the still-beloved subdudes.

Tommy Malone tracks one man’s journey through life, suffering through hard times from hurricanes to heartbreak but always finding a way to keep on keeping on. Malone’s songs alternately offer masterful psychological insight, a bulwark against troubles and a lighthearted sense of wonder, all sculpted by his remarkable voice and steadied by an intricate array of guitar textures, rhythmic foundations, fills and solos, from Travis-picking country to deep south electric slide. His writing reveals the same strain of southern R&B that informed such genius songsmiths as Bobby Charles and Dan Penn.

Tommy Malone leaves no emotional stone unturned. It’s the work of a true artist who took the time to get it right.

Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez

This queen of blue-eyed rock n’ soul, who grew up loving equally the sweetness of a Memphis horn line and the raunch of an electric guitar riff, whether played by Muddy Waters, Keith Richards, or Pop Staples, teased her blonde hair into a beehive in honor of Ronnie Spector and never looked back, picking up a guitar and forging a career as a songwriter in the process. She’s the current, long-time vocalist with the Saturday Night Live Band, whose latest CD, 2010’s The Deep End, was honored on five national Top Ten lists and features special guests/duet partners Ian Hunter, Dion DiMucci, and Marshall Crenshaw, plus Levon Helm, GE Smith, Andy York, Eric “Roscoe” Ambel, Catherine Russell, Big Al Anderson, and others.

Popa Chubby

Popa Chubby, born Ted Horowitz in 1960, is a native son of The Big Apple. His parents owned a candy store in the Bronx. The young Chubby would play the jukebox endlessly listening to the hits of the day. Motown, Stax Volt, Chess and Atlantic records spun endlessly through the young boy’s head. “The defining moment came when my Dad took me to see Chuck Berry when I was 6. There’s Chuck, onstage, larger than life. I see a bulge in his pocket and ask my dad what it is. ‘That’s Chuck’s money,’ my dad said. I was sold on the spot.”
At 14 he got his first guitar and never looked back. The 70′s were fertile ground with blues rock ruling the Arenas. Chubby, fueled by Led Zepplin, Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix, Foghat, Cream and the Rolling Stones would put in long hours with his record player learning the licks that would become his signature.
In the late 70’s Popa answered an ad for a guitarist in the Village Voice and became a mainstay of the early CBGB’s Punk scene. He played, recorded, and toured with Punk godfather Richard Hell becoming an in demand session player on the New York scene.
In 1993, after winning first place in the KLON National Blues Talent Search (runner up was Keb Mo),he signed a deal with the Sony’s O-KEH label and made the record “Booty And The Beast” with legendary Atlantic Records producer Tom Dowd at the helm. The record yielded a Billboard top 100 hit with “Sweet Goddess Of Love And Beer.” Chubby was on his way. After the birth of his twin daughters, Theodora and Tipitina, he began to tour the world. Popa Chubby became a mainstay on the European festival scene where he has headlined such notable festivals as The Nice Jazz Festival, Freewheels Festival, Bos Pop Festival, The Kolne Rhythm and Blues Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival, The New York State Blues Festival, and many more.
Chubby continued to tour relentlessly and Garnered a W. C. Handy award for his 9/11 inspired “Somebody Let The Devil Out,” a tribute to the first responders in the great tragedy.

Popa Chubby is an artist who stands for musical and personal integrity. Audiences worldwide all say the same thing:

“This is the best show I have ever seen!”
