Roxy Perry

A child prodigy, Roxy started out fronting swing bands at the famous Glen Island Casino in New Rochelle, New York and performed her first major concert at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California at age 9. In her early teens, she began fronting her own bands. By her late teens, she was working six nights a week with her 10-piece soul band at the Peppermint Lounge on 45th Street and Times Square in New York City. It was there that she was discovered and did her first studio recording as a back-up vocalist. This led to her going on tour for four years with the pop-rock band, Dawn, representing their hits of the time. The band headlined concert tours with Kenny Rogers, The Carpenters, Rare Earth, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Iron Butterfly, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Mike Nesmith, Mark Lindsay and many others. In the ‘80’s an EP was released on Personal Records, produced by Richie Cordell, which was high on the Billboard charts for two months.

Roxy launched her blues career in the late ‘80’s, when she quickly became known for her exciting live performances at clubs, concert halls and festivals throughout the U.S. and abroad and won her reputation as “the real deal” through her riveting live performances and highly acclaimed CDs in blues and jazz circles worldwide.

In recent years Roxy has appeared on the concert bill with Rod Piazza, Shamekia Copeland, Leon Russell, Marcia Ball, John Mayall, Saphire, Hubert Sumlin, Gatemouth Brown, Koko Taylor, Taj Mahal, the Neville Brothers, Popa Chubby, Derek Trucks, The Black Crowes, Susan Tedeschi, Duke Robillard and a host of others.  In 2007, Roxy and her band performed at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, where they headlined two stages, including the Lake Geneva Blues Cruise

As a recording artist, Roxy has performed, produced and written the material for four highly acclaimed CDs that have been added to classic female Blues artist lists on radio stations throughout the world. They are titled HI HEEL BLUES (Monad Records), ROXY PERRY, NEW YORK BLUES QUEEN (BluePerry Hill Records), BACK IN BLUESVILLE (BluePerry Hill Records), and her most recent CD, IN MY SWEET TIME (BluePerry Hill Records). Many of her original songs appear on compilation blues CDs. Her unique version of HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN appeared on the compilation album, PUBLIC DOMAIN (Purchase Records), which was nominated for a Grammy award. In 2006, BACK IN BLUESVILLE was awarded BEST SELF-PRODUCED CD at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

Roxy’s music has been featured on the legendary KING BISCUIT HOUR, and the HOUSE OF BLUES RADIO HOUR hosted by Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd). The syndicated radio program, PORTRAITS IN BLUE, which profiles Blues legends and rising stars, produced an hour-long feature on Roxy Perry. This historic documentary airs regularly on NPR stations. Her music continues to be heard regularly on MUSIC CHOICE, DIRECT TV, hundreds of radio stations, web and podcasts.  Roxy can also be heard around the world as host to her weekly on-line radio program, NEW YORK BLUES-BIRD, broadcast on KCOR kconlineradio.com.

Joe Louis Walker

Joe Louis Walker was born in San Francisco on Christmas Day of 1949. His parents were both from the South and they brought their love of blues with them when they headed west. Joe’s dad played blues piano, and his mom played B.B. King records. Walker picked up the guitar as a child, and by the time he was 16 was regularly backing touring blues artists rolling through town. San Francisco’s music scene was quickly becoming a melting pot of blues, jazz and psychedelic rock, and Walker was right in the center of it.?? As a 16-year-old, Walker was the house guitarist at San Francisco’s famed musical playground, The Matrix, where he played with or opened shows for everyone from Lightnin’ Hopkins to Jimi Hendrix to Thelonious Monk. He was also a regular at The Fillmore West. The blues legends Walker accompanied shared not only musical knowledge but also their personal wisdom with the teenage up-and-comer. Fred McDowell, Ike Turner, Albert King, Freddy King, Robert Jr. Lockwood, Lightnin’ Hopkins and many others taught, fed, and chastised the youngster.

Inspired by what he learned, Walker developed his own fiery, melodic, and always unpredictable guitar attack.??Walker met guitarist Michael Bloomfield in 1968 and the two became fast friends. Bloomfield helped push Walker’s blues in a more rock-fueled direction, and he became the single biggest influence on Walker’s sound. The two shared an apartment for years and remained close friends until Bloomfield’s death in 1981. From 1975 to 1985, Walker performed nothing but gospel music, playing and singing as a member of The Spiritual Corinthians. In 1986, after Walker returned to playing the blues, Hightone Records released his debut CD, Cold Is The Night. Firmly rooted in blues, gospel, R&B and rock, the album caught the attention of music fans around the country.

Prior to joining Alligator Records in 2012, Walker had released 23 albums and toured the world virtually non-stop. He has garnered four Blues Music Awards (and has been nominated a whopping 52 times) and holds an international reputation as one of the blues’ most prolific and talented stars. He’s also recorded as a guest with some of the blues world’s best-known artists, including appearances on Grammy-winning records by B.B. King and James Cotton.

In 2013 The Blues Foundation inducted Walker into The Blues Hall Of Fame. “I am honored to be in the company of the great artists already inducted,” Walker said at the time. “I hope to live up to the honor.” Joining the ranks of previous inductees including B.B. King, Hound Dog Taylor, Koko Taylor, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Howlin’ Wolf and other blues greats while still at the peak of his musical powers, is, as Walker says, “a dream come true.”

Frank Viele

Frank Viele constructs his sound beneath an acoustic funk ceiling with windows of alternative pop, folk and soul. A musical carpenter in the independent rock genre, this singer/songwriters approach mixes a dry wit with a soulful touch. A storytelling angle finishes out the floors of this building. Frank's sound construction is cemented together by a solid blues foundation and his stylistically aware approach is evident in his singing and guitar playing. Working off the brick and mortar of influences ranging from Dave Matthews to Otis Redding and Ray Lamontagne to Johnny Lang, Frank delivers an authenticity showcasing a familiarity to the inspirations that came before him. Frank Viele is Acoustic funk, electrified with a shot of Pop, Rock and Soul. Add Rhythm and Blues for a Chaser.

A self-professed terrible driver, cartoon lover and blue-collar entrepreneur, Frank's musical roots started in his hometown of Milford, Connecticut. His passion for music developed as early as the age of three, when Frank was imitating songs on his Grandmother's piano that he heard on the television. As much about variety as versatility, Frank enjoys everything from Miami Dolphins Football to Salvador Dali's Melting Clock paintings. He still reads Shakespeare and Greek Mythologies but would never miss an episode of The Simpsons. Frank's wide array of musical influences include Sam Cooke, Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia and Jimi Hendrix. In fact, Frank says the opening track on the Band of Gypsies Record changed his life. More modern inspirations include Dave Matthews, Ryan Adams and Ben Harper.

This spectrum of interests mixed with a great sense of humor and an introspective take on music, sports, food, art and life, defines a renaissance man in the truest sense of the word.
